But at least we don't live in Oymyakon, one of the coldest inhabited places on Earth. Temperatures in Russia's remote Yakutia region reportedly bottomed out at minus 67 yesterday, with the thermometer in Oymyakon unable to keep up with the deep freeze. In 2013, the village recorded an all-time low of minus 71.
Oymyakon was the subject of a recent MSN photo gallery I put together with the help of Kiwi photographer Amos Chapple, who travelled to Siberia to document what life is like for the 500 hardy souls who live there.
